CAMBIOS

Hey Mom and Dad,

Haha yeah we were actually wondering last night who finally won the world cup. In the morning as we passed by investigators we noticed they were watching the game but we never heard who won. That´s kool Spain won, I guess, lol. The people here were rooting for any South American team to make it. It was probably a blessing that Ecuador didn´t make it because I could totally understand how much harder it would be to teach because everyone would be glued to the TV. I remember when I was in Babahoyo one of the professional teams from Ecuador was in the championship for the South American cup and the night they played everyone was watching. Some places had even pulled big screen TVs into the street and the traffic was blocked because so many people would gather around watching. Gotta love sports :).

And that´s neat you went to the baby blessing for the kids of Curtis and Jenny. That would be neat to see. Here it´s not very often to see a baby blessing. In fact now that I think about it, I can´t remember if I´ve seen it once since I´ve been here. And that´s sweet you had a youth temple trip. Those were always such a re-energizer for the youth. To feel the spirit strong and also to grow closer as a group. And haha that´s good it´s finally gotten into the 90´s. Here it´s been a little cooler because it´s been a little cloudy which is way nice. I tell everyone that I feel right at home when it´s cloudy because it´s like Oregon :)

But anyways, as for the news of the changes. I´ve got some good news and some bad news. The good news is: I´m still here in Quevedo! The bad news: Elder Barrientos is not. But there is more good news: my new campanion is Elder Aguirre! I don´t know if I´ve mentioned him before but funny thing he was in Libertad when I started the mission and I remember him being a great elder. For the last 10 months he´s actually been in the office as an assistant to the President but for his last change I guess President let him out to finish as a normal missionary working in the field. So yeah, as you can imagine he is an excellent missionary. He has an ability to teach so clearly and invite the spirit in every lesson it´s amazing. So yeah I´m pretty sure I´m going to learn a ton this next six weeks, lol. It was funny Thursday night with Elder Barrientos it was 10:30 and we were climbing in bed when the phone rang. I answered and it was Elder Aguirre to give us the changes and he told me Elder Barrientos had to be in Guayaquil the following morning. I didn´t even really think about who would be my new companion when we arrived at the terminal Friday morning but it was crazy I saw Elder Aguirre with Elder Bartolomei doing the changes but then Elder Aguirre turned to me and said he was my new companion. It took me a few moments to process the idea, lol. At first I thought, wait, am I going to the office? But then I realized oh no, he´s coming with me. then my heart jumped, lol. So yeah, I´m still getting used to the idea that the assistant to the President is my companion lol but I´m pretty excited because I think we´re going to have a lot of success this change :). It was also fun in terminal I saw Elder Cruz who was finally being transferred from Duran and he told me about some of our investigators. He told me about one family in particular that we taught a bunch and he told me that the kids were baptized this weekend!! That made me happy. There were several other elders that I saw which was fun to talk to. One crazy thought is that Hermana Brown who was in my group from the MTC is finally going home. It wouldn´t be so crazy if there were others from our group but to think that I´m now the last from our group here is kinda crazy, lol. But it´s kool I heard she´s been a great missionary.

But anyways, before I forget I haven´t gotten the shoes yet but I think I´ll call the office today and talk with the elder in charge of pouch. If it was a bigger package I´m pretty sure I have to give authorization or something for him to get it. Hmm that´s the only trouble with bigger packages but I´m sure I´ll get it soon. Thanks again for sending it I´m still in need of tennis shoes lol. Oh and I was wondering I´m on my last box of contacts and I´m not sure if they´ll last until the end of the mission so I was wondering do you think it´d be a good idea to send me some one box more for each eye. I suppose I could wait until I´m down to one pair left and then ask you to send some to see if they will last. I guess we´ll see.

Alright well I´d better get going. But thanks for everything! I love you and hope you have a great week!!!!

Love,
Elder David Frome
