Bautismo!

Hey Mom and Dad,

Wow I´m glad it sounds like another great week at home. Ward Conference must´ve been great. One thing I´ve gained a lot more of in the mission is an appreciation for local leaders in the church (and the mission:) and their guidance. It´s always a treat to be able to hear the messages they´ve prepared specifically for the group that they´ve been called by the Lord to preside over. That must´ve been great to hear from President Carlile and Presidente Wiest. That´s way awesome I can´t believe there are 9 missionaries from the old Albany 2nd ward. That is a great thing to see. Especially since Elder Barrientos we noticed from the Liahona of the Conference that there are less missionaries out since last year and it seems like the number has gone down. And sounds like another typical fun BYD in the ward with a dating panel, lol. And that´s great that Sister Tyler went to the temple! Yeah I´m not gonna lie I don´t remember exactly teaching her but the name sounds familiar. But that´s neat Elder Furniss was able to come back too. So is he at home now? But that´s great, I think it´s every missionary’s dream to be able to see their converts in the temple.

But anyways, and awesome that Adam got his mission call!! Though man if he goes in September then I´m gonna go a long time without seeing him, *sigh* but that´s ok that´s great he´ll be a great missionary. I read this morning the talk Elder Uchtdorf gave on active patience and I think it applies pretty well to Adam´s case.

But anyways, oh before I forget, I got your package with the 3 Blistex and two bottles of moisturizer, thanks!!! And thanks for the popcorn that´ll be good to eat. It´s funny there is microwavable popcorn here but it´s way expensive. And those articles were neat to see. That´s awesome that coach phil is now in the Hall of fame. I never knew he was so active in wrestling- probably because I always just saw him as a great football coach. But that´s great, I like what one quote said of him as being able to achieve a high level of intensity for such a long time. That´s definitely him, a way intense coach that still yells and screams even though he´s been coaching for so long, lol.

I also sent a little package with the two memory cards to see if you can salvage them so you can probably be expecting them this week.

Well this week has been another crazy week. It was crazy getting the baptism pulled together and everything. At first we weren´t sure if it was going to go through because we haven´t talked with the parents (though they are 18 so don´t really need the permission of their parents) and then what a day. But at last it all came together and we ended up having it Sunday before church instead of Saturday because they couldn´t. Which was fine I think it was even better. We had church at 3 in the afternoon so it was fine. Jeferson Gutierrez, our ward mission leader baptized them (he´s the one with the family of 12 kids) because he lives way close to them so they´ve been great friends. It was fun just with the Family Gutierrez the room was filled for the baptism. I attached some photos to see if you can tell apart the two twins, lol. The secret is actually just that Luís Miguel has a tiny mole right above his right eyebrow and José Luís doesn´t. I also sent you a picture we took after teaching Sunday night. It´s funny because it´s not even the whole family.

Other than that we´ve been working hard as normal. We asked president special permission to play soccer today just between the four of us in the house so that´s why I´m writing a little late. We headed over to the stake center because out front there is real grass (which, for here, is a big thing:). And played. Elder Palmer let me borrow some of his shoes so I used them but he´s actually got tiny feet so after the first game I took them off and just played barefoot. But it was fun. Me and elder Barrientos played against Elder Palmer and Elder Elias. For being the only who didn´t play soccer much I didn´t do too bad. I actually scored a fair share of goals. After Elder Palmer said I have “natural ability,” lol I think it was more Elder Barrientos was telling me what to do the whole time so we worked good together. We brought gallon bottles of water to make the goals. The first game me and Elder Barrientos won pretty easily, then the next Elder Palmer and Elias won. Then me and Elder Barrientos won the third. It was way fun though you could tell we were all way out of shape, lol.

Alright well I´d better get going. Thanks for everything! Let me know when you get the package. Have a great week!

Love,
Elder David Frome

PS- do you think you could send me back the memory cards that you have? Hopefully they start working.
