Hey Mom and Dad,
Sounds like another good week at home. That must´ve been kool to hear Walker and the other football players speak in the Spanish branch. Yeah I bet they must´ve done great. That´s a funny story getting chucaracha mixed up with cuchara. And yeah I´m sure every new missionary has a story like that. I remember once we walked past a person selling a type of popsicle like otter pops but they´re called Bonice and they´re way good especially on a hot day. So we stopped and I wanted cherry but couldn´t remember the word ¨cereza¨ very well and ended up asking for the flavor ¨cerveza,¨ which is beer. Yeah, both the lady selling and my companion looked at me funny and asked ¨what??¨ I quickly decided that strawberry would be an easier choice and just as good, lol. That and one time with Elder Sanchez we were teaching the plan of salvation and instead of saying the telestial kingdom is comparable to a ¨luna¨ (moon) I accidentally said it´s comparable to a ¨lunar¨(mole), lol but that mistake wasn´t quite as embarrassing as asking for a beer flavored popsicle :)
Well this week has been downright crazy, lol. We´ve had a ton of crazy interchanges with other elders planning and coordinating all the baptism interviews and getting everything ready for the Noche Blanca. In fact at one point we had one interchange of two trios between three companionships in order to interview everyone. Getting enough baptism clothes was a fun task as well. At times it´s hard for one companionship to get enough clothes if they have several. We ended up asking the Quevedo norte zone for clothes and then we had plenty. But yeah all culminating to Saturday night, which was an intense night in itself. I attached a couple pictures of all the baptisms. Hector and Olga are in the top right below me and Elder Vinueza is next to me. We celebrated afterwards by ordering pizza in the house :)
I think I´ve realized the true meaning of flash flood now. The rains are now coming in full throttle. The morning is sunny until about 3ish in the afternoon when the clouds roll in. By about 5 or 6 the rain starts coming down hard, lol. The worst night I´d say was Thursday. We went to another ward to do interviews and met up in the church. Once we were done the rain was already coming down. As we were walking home the roads quickly filled up with water. It was kind of fun because we walked home with Elder Rojas and Elder Smith and they´re hilarious. At one point a car drove by and it sent waves over the curb and onto the sidewalk. We did as much as we could to stay on dry ground but soon enough it was above our ankles. The worst was then when we had to cross the street we´d step down and the water was up past my calves. I think on one part it was almost to my knees, lol. It was great! With Elder Rojas we were pushing each other into puddles or getting each other wet, lol. Once we were soaked through it didn´t really matter anymore. I felt bad for the houses where the water came in. I´m glad our apartment is on the second floor. But I guess that´s one reason why you don´t see houses with carpet here.
But alright I´d better get going. Thanks for the letter and everything! Love you!
Love,
Elder David Frome
