Hey Mom and Dad,
Thanks for the pictures! Haha looks like everyone had a great time. Wow Idaho is greener than I thought, lol. For some reason whenever I heard about places in Idaho I think of dry desert settings, lol. But that is a beautiful log place. That´d be fun to live in a log cabin :). And it´s sweet the pictures took up a little room in my inbox which informed me that it has now filled 2% of the capacity in contrast with the 1% from last week :P. and wow that´s awesome that Anna and Walker are engaged! And good thinking about the date, it makes it a kinda win-win situation for walker. If his team does good, they go to a bowl game! And if not, he gets married! Nicely done :). I hope his team does go to a bowl game so I can be in the wedding, lol.
But anyways, yeah the shoes feel great. We were going to go play a little soccer just the four of us (I guess if we´re in small group and just us we can play soccer:) today but something came up this morning. And I actually don´t think they opened the box at all so that was good. That was good you could send it under 4lbs because they didn´t open it. And my dress shoes are holding up great. I´m sure they´ll do fine for the rest of the mission, just as long as they don´t get stolen :P
But anyways, this week was awesome! Mostly because of the Baptism that we had on Saturday. It was amazing! It was funny Elder Palmer interviewed Shelvin (the boy of 11 years) and came out amazed because he knew everything. Then Saturday before the baptism Brother CaƱartez (the first counselor in the bishopric) interviewed Daylyn (who´s 8) and said that just from hearing her say the first prayer he was surprised because she prayed like one who grew up in the church. Then he told me something that really impressed me. He asked her who taught her to pray and she responded, “my daddy taught me.” Even though the father has been inactive for almost 10 years he still knows the importance of the gospel and still has a testimony and you can see how much he loves his kids because how much he tries to teach them. It was great because the father was there and the step-mom. We had the baptism with the ward from the Quevedo north stake so there was a total of 4 baptisms. It was a nice service and we had a several members of the ward to support so it turned out nice. Then the second best part was the following day the step-mom came with the kids (it was her first time in church!) for the confirmation and after Sacrament meeting was over several sisters from Relief society came over to greet her and welcome her! Then after church was over she was there simply talking for over half an hour. Yeah, definitely a success. It was just amazing to see because she´s been telling us how she´s catholic and doesn´t want to get involved in another religion. She´s only been supporting because the kids have been so enthusiastic so she supports that they´re going to a church. I hope I´m here to see this family completed :)
Other than that last night was kind of crazy because we received some news. Firstly, tomorrow we´re going to have zone conference here in Quevedo, which is normal and cool. But secondly that the Zone Conference will be from 8 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon. Yeah, that´s not normal. Presidente told us that it was scheduled so fast and is urgent because we will receive some kind of training directly from the mission office that will add to how we teach. We currently have 5 lessons that we teach from Preach my Gospel. Apparently tomorrow they are changing it to 8 lessons, though we will only have time to cover 4 (about 2 hours for each new lesson). Yeah, I´m guessing this is going to change a lot of the way we teach. President just told us as zone leaders so we´d be prepared. This morning we left early because President asked us to find a way to provide lunch for the 56 missionaries that will be there, lol. We decided on pizza :). Then thirdly, elder Aguirre has a change. President told him to pack his suitcase and be ready to leave with him to Guayaquil after the conference. Yeah, sad day. Elder Torrez, one of the District leaders here will be the new zone leader with me. We figure something must have happened to have had an emergency change like this in the middle of the change. But ah well. I definitely learned a lot from Elder Aguirre. We´ve had a great three weeks in the change.
Well other than that not too much has happened, lol. Thanks for everything. I hope you have another great week! Love you!
Love,
Elder David Frome
PS- here are some photos of the baptism and others we took at their house before the baptism when we were waiting for everyone to get ready, lol. Daylyn is the 8 year old daughter, Shelvin is the 11-year old son and Heiter is the 5-year old little brother :)
